The Numbers Don’t Lie…

Line Graph

Firstly, dear readers, I must apologize for not posting yesterday.

I was deluged with errands and projects (nothing fun or even writing related… but necessary all the same). I did attempt logging in to write a post, but after attending to all the odds and ends, I didn’t have much left in the tank, and I’d rather not post than force something.

Happily, not posting did show me something… There are a few of you out there (actually more than a few…) who stop here regularly to read Sue’s News. (When I log in each day to post a new blog, I get a graph that shows me how many readers logged in on any given day.) I was really thrilled to see how much this blog has become a part of some of your routines…

I realized this weekend that for me (and I’m guessing this is true for most, though I can only speak for myself), I need three basic things to feel happy and fulfilled: To be loved, needed, and appreciated.

I feel that in my private life… my relationships with friends and family. But sometimes, I lose touch with those feelings in my career. Just a few days ago, I found myself saying, “My work isn’t doing anyone any good sitting here on my computer. It’s not touching anyone or helping them in their lives.”

But the critical voice was quieted rather quickly when I thought about my blog. Seeing the numbers for those of you who tuned in yesterday, illustrated what I know in my heart to be true.

When I sent you that valentine, I wasn’t doing it for needless flattery. I’m feelin’ the love, and want you to know I not only appreciate it, I’m sending it back your way too.

–Sue
